Review: Eternal Return is a captivating turn-based RPG that has quickly seized my attention. I just downloaded it today, and I can confidently say that I’m already hooked. As someone who tends to get a bit anxious about new games—especially with concerns over account security—I approached this one with a bit of caution. Thankfully, my worries were unfounded, and I’ve already found myself lost in its vivid world for three hours. The gameplay is engaging, and if you find ads to be bothersome, a simple trick is to turn off your Wi-Fi. I’ve experienced some issues with my Wi-Fi not playing ads correctly, so being able to play without disruptions has been a relief. Plus, the game has a certain nostalgic charm that reminds me of the Pokémon series, which has piqued my interest, especially since I’ve been looking for something along those lines while dealing with my Wi-Fi woes.

However, as much as I adore the game, I must admit that there are a few areas where clarity is lacking. For example, I can collect cards for the kami I already possess, but acquiring a third kami of any type seems to be a challenge. Additionally, I’m a bit stumped on the concept of “concatenating stars.” It’s certainly a unique term, but without more context, it leaves me scratching my head. Compounding my frustration is the fact that the game shares a name with a well-known title in the gaming community. This similarity makes finding information or guides about it something of a scavenger hunt. Despite these minor hiccups, the use of magic and monsters within the game is mesmerizing, and the upgrade system feels robust and well-thought-out. The mechanics are refreshingly unique, particularly the memory skill aspect, which adds an intriguing layer to the overall experience.

From an aesthetic perspective, the game is undeniably cute, but it does have its quirks. For instance, every time I try to enter the chest shop, the back button to return to the game malfunctions, forcing me to restart. These little glitches can be frustrating, as they disrupt the flow of gameplay. Additionally, the text skip feature is positioned inconveniently for left-handed players, residing on the far right side of the screen. This placement often leads to unintentional skipping of the story, a feature I would have preferred to engage with more deeply. Nonetheless, the visuals are charming enough that I may consider giving the game another chance in the future.

Overall, I believe Eternal Return has a lot going for it and would recommend it to anyone interested in turn-based RPGs. One thing I’ve observed is that the game has a grindy nature to it, which, in my opinion, isn’t necessarily a drawback. I really enjoy the grind of leveling up characters, refining weapons, and enhancing magical abilities. While it may take some time to familiarize oneself with the mechanics at the outset, the strategic aspects of the gameplay make the learning curve worthwhile. Engaging with the story, which is well-written with plenty of twists and turns, adds another layer of enjoyment. Facing the final boss felt incredibly challenging but exhilarating, wrapping up a fun-filled gaming experience. Eternal Return is a game that, despite its initial confusion and minor technical issues, presents a fulfilling adventure worth exploring.
